My Top Quotes on Governments and Tyranny

The need for democracy and it’s virtues are preached by many. However, tyranny also rises from a democratic process. Once you’re elected and power is on the rise, little by little  you start controlling others and start accusing the opposers as non- patriotic or conspirators with foreign forces or as terrorists. Whereas, the right to bear arms is provided to people because it’s the last form of defense against tyranny. Many interesting quotes have been made to articulate tyranny, and I’ve selected my top 5;

#1 “When the people fear the government, there is tyranny. When the government fears the people, there is liberty.”- Thomas Jefferson

#2 “If Tyranny and Oppression come to this land, it will be in the guise of fighting a foreign enemy.”- James Madison

#3 “The heights of popularity and patriotism are still the beaten road to power and tyranny.”- David Hume

#4 “Dictatorship naturally arises out of democracy, and the most aggravated form of tyranny and slavery out of the most extreme liberty.”- Plato

#5 “All tyranny needs to gain a foothold is for people of good conscience to remain silent.”- Edmund
