Today’s gospel, in church, referred to believers in Christianity to be salt and light for the world (Matthew 5:13-16). I’m trying to develop an argument to see; “Is there an analogy that can help people to govern better? Companies and country alike”.
Matthew 5:13: “You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men.” Salt had two purposes in the old days. Because of the lack of refrigeration, salt was used to preserve food, especially meat and it is also used as a flavor enhancer, even today.
If all people can be preservatives to the world, preserving it from the evil inherent in the society of ungodly men and also enhance the flavor of life in this country, won’t this influence our society for good?
In the analogy of light to the world, it would mean, you must be like light in the darkness. Let your light shine in such a way that everyone may see your good works. Ensure that in running companies that actions taken are in accordance with good principles so that they will be evident for all to see and will bring light to the others.
Directors can be salt shakers or lamp holders, doing and spreading good among corporates and thereby build a better society, a country…..!
